From Turf to Titans: Monster Trucks invade the football Stadium in Dresden

Monster Jam is a breathtaking event that captivates motorsport fans all over the world. It is a mixture of raw iron power and adrenaline-filled moments that sweeps the audience off their seats. With huge trucks weighing 5,500 kg, equipped with over 1,500 hp and gigantic tires, the Rudolf Harbig Stadium in Dresden has been transformed into an arena of extremes once a year since 2023.

The beginnings of Monster Jam

The origins of Monster Jam lie in the USA in the 1970s, when enthusiasts began to equip simple cars with massive tractor tires. Over time, this idea developed into a spectacular motorsport event that has captured the hearts of millions of fans around the world. Since the 1990s, Monster Jam has become a global sensation, taking place in over 30 countries.

Pit Party to kick off the event

The show not only offers spectators fast-paced action, but also an interactive experience. Fans are actively involved in the event and have the opportunity to vote for the winner in the Freestyle, Skills and Racing categories. In addition, they can get to know the drivers and their trucks, take photos and chat with like-minded people at the Pit Party before the actual event. This unique interaction creates a special connection between the riders and their fans and makes Monster Jam an unforgettable experience.

From football stadium to off-road area

The transformation of the Dynamo Dresden stadium into a monster truck arena is a logistical masterpiece. Within just a few days, the soccer turf is replaced by a special off-road surface that can withstand the heavy trucks. CORS played a decisive role in 2023. With around 40 employees, we ensured that the conversion went smoothly and that spectator safety was guaranteed. The entire green area was carefully covered with sheeting and wooden panels, while certain areas, such as the lower rows of stands, were secured with construction fencing for safety reasons. Additional measures were also taken to create a safe and memorable event.

Dresden on its way to becoming a Monster Jam hotspot

The decision to bring Monster Jam to Dresden is proof of the existing enthusiasm for motorsport in the region. Event planner Peter Kötting explains to the Wochenkurier that Dresden has long been on his wish list, as the stadium is the perfect size and the people of Saxony are generally enthusiastic about motorsport. Last year’s successful shows in 2023 and 2024 showed him that Dresden has the potential to become a permanent fixture on the Monster Jam Tour.

The 30th anniversary of Monster Jam promises to be a very special event. With special trucks from the Marvel Universe and even more action, the show will thrill fans in Dresden and beyond. Monster Jam is more than just a motorsport event – it is an unrivalled spectacle that pushes the boundaries of what is possible and transports spectators into a world of adrenaline and excitement.
